Ballet Exams will be given Saturday, April 1st. Cost for the exam will be $25.00. Exams must be paid for before dancers can participate. Please register early!
Students with at least one year dance experience and in the 1st grade and up are eligible to take the exam. Dancers are graded in the following categories: Knowledge of fundamentals, Poise and Aplomb, Performance and Sincerity of Purpose. The most a dancer can receive in each category is 5 points. The total of points is then averaged to the following point rating system: 5 points—Superior, 4 points—Excellent, 3 points—Very Good, 2 points—Good. Dancers must receive a total of 15 points in order to receive their gold cups (It usually takes between 3 to 5 years to achieve this goal). All dancers will receive a certificate for participation. This is not something that everyone just gets at the end of a season; they must work towards the Gold Cup for Ballet Excellence.
Dance Attire for exams: Dancers must wear a black leotard (any style) hair must be up in a bun (if hair is very short make sure that it is pinned back with headband or something that will keep it out of dancers face), white or pink tights and ballet shoes. Please be early to register.
